Holidays celebrations in Tuscany have always been a time for families to reunite and everyone, even the poorest, celebrated with special sweets and drinks, perhaps enjoyed only once a year.

We have recovered the recipes of these sweets and found the liqueurs used to celebrate by those who lived in the Chianti, Mugello or Maremma countryside

Our story is a female story, more than 140 years old. Its protagonists are five women who love and respect the land, those who work it and its products.

- Amaro of the Sisters of Rosano: the nectar of the Benedictine tradition.
The monastery of Santa Maria a Rosano, founded in the year 780, is located in Rosano in the municipality of Rignano sull'Arno in the province of Florence, within the territory of the Diocese of Fiesole. It is a female abbey of the Order of San Benedetto; it has about 50 nuns. The Divine Office is celebrated in Gregorian chant, in Latin.

Produced directly inside the monastery, the bitters of the nuns of Rosano are currently little known in the Florentine countryside, and our mission is to make them known little by little, without upsetting the small non-profit trade, of the nuns of Rosano.

- Fisherman's bread 

The fisherman's bread: sometimes we puzzle to find something interesting, appetizing or particular, then we are amazed at the success of small things that seem to be bungled.
In this season the Pan del Pescatore is the most popular, prepared with yellow flour, almonds, raisins and honey, it goes well with Vin Santo.
A nice cookie like cookies revisited from our areas, suitable for intense days, dispenses energy and makes us fantasize about the reason for his name.

The Bottega a Rosano:

Rosano is a small village in the eastern Florentine countryside, near to Abbey of Santa Maria (sec X). During his long life this Benedectine Monastery has been an important center of spiritual life and small local trades on the road from Florence to Arezzo. We have found an old photo of the beginning of last century that proves the existence of our shop in the same position of today. Our grandfathers remember that the restaurant service started around 1960.

"This is a classic shop for the Florentine citizen’s excursion in the weekend, travelers love this place for his Tuscan heart that we preserve with simplicity. My family works here from 1989. Our personal story is deeply connected with this place. Lorenzo and Romana, Damiano and Lorella, Matteo, Filippo, Francesco, Sandro, Liliana, Cristina, Michele, Luisito, Franco, Riccardo, Benito, Danilo, Mario are only a few of the ones that work or worked in Bottega a Rosano.

Same of them are still here, same have passed away, all of them made his important part for this special place."
