Cabernet franc, a fascinating and mysterious red grape variety of Bordeaux origin and more precisely from the Gironde area, probably derived from the Vitis Biturica variety, has more and more admirers in the world. Together with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot he composes the recipe of the most copied and appreciated wine in the world, the Taglio Bordolese.

Compared to its cousin cabernet sauvignon, it is not very widespread in the world, although it is establishing itself in countries such as California, Argentina, Australia and New Zealand, it adapts well everywhere, preferring the cold and suffering from hot climates. It is often confused with carmenere, but they are two different grape varieties. In France it has successfully established itself in the Loire and Libournais, especially in the areas of Saint Emilion and Pomerol.

In Italy it is found mainly in Lombardy, Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Trentino. Aging in steel, it opens on the nose red fruit jam, moist earth and lavender. Fresh, medium-bodied, gentle tannins, it closes with a herbaceous touch.

The production of Zof, equally divided into white and red wines, favors the traditional vines of the area which have its most emblematic points of reference in Ribolla Gialla, Friulano and Schiopettino. Cleanliness of the wines, elegance and freshness are the prerogatives of Zof wines. From the care of the 14 hectares of vineyards, fine wines are born. Over the years, the collaboration with the famous winemaker Donato Lanati has been important, thanks to which the Friulian company has acquired knowledge on aging wines still applied today.
